Working with United Way

Capital Area United Way has become synonymous with caring and helping children, families and individuals. But we can't do it alone. That's why we're engaging partners within our community to provide innovative solutions to some of the community’s most critical challenges.

Capital Area College Access Network

The Capital Area College Access Network (CapCAN) is a collaborative community network dedicated to increasing college and post-secondary readiness, participation, and completion. The network includes representatives from education, higher education, business, nonprofit, philanthropy, and government stakeholders.  CapCAN targets our support and services to low-income, communities of color, and first-generation students. The CapCAN staff are members of CAUW and are housed in the CAUW’s office at the Marshall Street Armory

Lansing Promise

A scholarship program designed to transform the lives of students, families and the Lansing community by offering a promise of hope for Lansing’s youth. The Promise is an award offered to graduates of public and private schools within the Lansing School District (“LSD”) boundaries by providing the financial assistance necessary to obtain a two-year degree or its equivalent at an eligible school. Students who are striving to successfully complete their high school education will be met with several scholarship options for post-secondary education through two powerful higher education institutions – Lansing Community College and Michigan State University.  Capital Area United Way is responsible for the financial administration for Lansing Promise operation.
